On a cold, bitter evening my intention was to get a wintry shot of Pendle but the smoking chimney from the cement works caught my eye. Various elements fell into place - the brighter patch of sky behind the smoke; the outline of snow on the tree; the curve of the path and walls - though it still seems to posses something more than the sum of its parts.
