Between Langcliffe and Stainforth there are a series of fascinating industrial ruins, the centrepiece of which is the Hoffman Limekiln. This huge oval kiln is of cathedral proportions and is a real hidden gem. Once your eyes become accustomed to the darkness you begin to pick out the detail of the firebricks and the tiny stalactites beginning to form.
